The "Malacatl" pendant from Nahuatl is made of high-quality sterling silver 0.925, guaranteed nickel free and manufactured by the experienced Pedro Zagal in pure manual work. The approximately 3 cm large piece of jewelry carries a hole in the center and is decorated with a motif, which is characterized by the people of the Aztecs, who formerly also lived in the region of Taxcos.
P> Don Pedro or don P as we call him, Is a real expert with everything related to the silver industry, he knows all the secrets.
He has been in the silver business for more than 50 years and is therefore our most experienced artisan in Taxco. During all this time, he has taught not only one generation within his family, but also to his grandchildren.
Most of his work, is through a technique known as: "troquelar": Troquelar is the Spanish word for punching or embossing. With a hand-operated apparatus, a form is stamped into a silver plate. For this purpose the sheet is placed on a "mold" - in which final form is later achieved.
To achieve the final piece, first we have two sawn halves that later on are assambled together.
In pakilia our primary goal is to give fair value to the work of artisans. The passion and love that each piece has is invaluable, but without a doubt we seek that each one of these pieces reaches the right person, who will give, the value it piece deserves.
